Pigs in a Poke
Clay Piggies
Approx: 9" x 5" 4.5"

This body of work is informed by the raw nature of the clay itself as well as our primal desires and animal instincts.
The creatures in this show are a reminder to us to be present for the joyful pleasures of everyday living. Perhaps we can be called back to the fleeting moments of youthful pastimes.

Often in the moments of desire we can meet our duality:
Our younger selves may meet our present selves in spontaneous acts of shared or solo pleasure.

Julie Kradel is a locally based artist . Her charming and joyful animal sculptures are a true reflection of not only her deep love for living creatures, but a representation of her life. Her art explores the relationships between the animals on her Leelanau County farm and her as their caretaker. Her conscious and unconscious interactions with them embody the clay & imbue her sculptures with a reverence.
Julie’s work strikes a beautiful balance between fantasy and realism.
